Things to do in Bangkok Thailand

This  was  my first time in Bangkok- great city and super busy  24 hours  and non stop.

What amazed me the city is so crowded with service business . so thinking to go to Bangkok Thailand?

So many interesting place to see  and to do in Bangkok .

The Royal Grand  Palace.

This an official residence of the kings of Thailand  from A.D 1782 onwards. The Royal Grand Palace  located  near by the  WAT PHRA KAEO (  the temple of emerald Buddha). How to get there?

As a tourist   so i decided take a bus but ensure take bus with full AC otherwise  you wont be able to move somewhere because its hot and humid. sky train quiet pleasant  to take and   provides a quick service.

The palace became of centre of  government  and royal court however in early day the king RAMA  he   like to stay in Dusit  Maha Prasad but still  use The Palace  as main residency .

During   visit to the palace  we are not allowed to  wear mini skirt, short  pan and sandal  cannot be worn too.

There is an entrance fee to See the Palace  around 300 t0 400 bath. And its open for public  from 8.30 to 16.30 .

The Royal Grand palace also can be seen through Chao Phraya  River. I took  the river tour and see all the  old building  and see the  floating house .

Very interesting to see  the way  they live above the water  and floated  ,also  the  floated market also   kind of unique and interesting  during  my River trips.

WAT ARUN ( TEMPLE of Dawn )

Located in  Amarin Road,Thon Buri.

The temple of Dawn  the most highest monument tower in Bangkok.  ( around 74 Meter high )This was called WAT CHAENG

The central Tower  is supported by  a series  of basis  resting mongkey, angel and etc

This temple open daily from 8.30 to 16.30 . the best way to get there  is by the river Chao Phraya River or  rent the Pharya  River express. Or you my get bus and Tuk Tuk  to go to the pier.

Jim Thompson House

This is one of the best private collection of Jim Thompson  who live  in Thailand during the  the World War ll and  he start his  hand made Thai silk industry .

However  weird  thing happened he gone missing in 1967 mysteriously  and no one can,t  find  his body .

John Thompson  Meseum is Located  in SOI Kasemsam ll  and near by of National Stadium.

Transport in Bangkok

TUK TUK

Very cheap and quick to get around by tuk tuk ensure   negotiated first to get a fixed  price with the Tuk Tuk driver before you start  your trips.  it cost me 20 bath for 2  people  from national stadium to Chao Pharya River Pier .

Bus  however take much longer because  the bus need to stop in every stage  to  drop and pick up customer. Bus  will cost you around 7 bath per person please  ensure get bus with AC.

Train  quiet  good here and  stations very clean  too .  Train wont drop you until the  Tourist destination and  you have to get another bus  go to direct to the destination.

Taxi   quiet ok too   ensure get a meter taxi otherwise you will end up paying too much. I think Tuk Tuk is the best to get around quicker and can get away from traffic easily

Boat  very interesting  transport and   should  dont missed it  to see nice place  and  touristic  area like the palace – sometime   you get better view  of the palace   from the river.  Again ensure you  negotiated first with the vendor  before you  hire boat .  my trip for an hour cost me 1500 bath for  2 people – i heard you can get better deal  but not sure .

Night life

Night  life is   great  in bangkok  for young people  - most bar open  till morning .  dont be surprised   when you enter the bar  you will find so many sexy waitress  .   the lady boy great  - they so perfect  and  i dont know the difference  between the real girl and was not real girl .   so i spent 2 day in Bangkok and that was enough for me to see the great nite life Bangkok.

NANA street

Busy area and  during the night and also  you may see  people selling   weirdo stuff like an crispy insects and other kind of insects. Striper bar almost in every corner  - i went to see inside the striper bar  because i just curious about it.

I supposed  not to surprised but  i did. Saw   the young girls and i can see they  are not quiet happy to do the job  .

Nite market in Tip Tong   quiet good  and most they sell all kind of Fake brand – and very hard to  recognise  fake  good brand  and it was fun,

The market open  from  6 pm 01 .00 am .

In general Bangkok quiet cheap for shopping  and remember to bargain anything except the foods.

Food and Drinks

I tried the street food was great and you get to see  how the local  cook their food  with  very good value however don’t expect to get  very nice service .

Also tried the food in MBK mall – man this is the biggest mall in Bangkok and the food variety really good too. Felt sorry spent  1500 bath for dinner the night before  for 2 and here in the mall  only spent 300 bath for 2 and the food is away better .

Most bar serve happy hours  from 6 to 8 pm  that was great . however some hotel bar serve an happy hours all night to attracted most customer .  Bar in Landmark Hotel in Nana Street serve happy hours drink all night long.

Shopping

I will recommended to go to MBK  - the biggest mall in Bangkok and shopping quiet cheap  too.

Bought nice silk scarf and cost me 150 bath -   dont afraid to bargain -  and usually work  if you try haggle  little bit.

And other shopping mall  near by MBK is Ocean wolrd- very exclusive mall   with better compare than Europe.

SPA

Dont  forget to pampers yourself  and tried the  Thai foot massage after long walk in town  -tried the spa where the local go – it cost me 250 bath  per hour compare that in my hotel which cost me  more than 1000 bath per hour.  So tried all  spa treatment where   the local go – but again dont expect you will get  sauna or  steam after your treatment – because it is not a 5 star spa . as  you can see price  talk itself.

Name of the  spa quiet funny too is MissPuke  i went there because of the funny name  and also just cross the road  from my hotel .

I have always wanted to go to Thailand, absolutely love Thai food and like the warm humid weather of the tropics.

Your hub makes for an interesting read and has inspired me to look into a holiday to the tropical destination.

Thanks for the inspiration!
